Natalie Istin Attains Licensed Custom Broker Certification

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 17, 2014) – Allyn International Services, Inc. (Allyn) announces the certification of Natalie Istin as a Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In October 2012, Istin passed an 80-question exam administered by CBP. Istin, an Allyn team member since July 30, 2007, works at a client location in Houston.
Upon passing the exam, Istin was required to submit an application for license to her CBP port director and undergo a multiagency background investigation. The investigation included a fingerprint analysis, review of character references, credit reports and criminal background inspection.

Brokers are licensed, regulated and empowered by CBP to assist importers and exporters in meeting Federal requirements governing foreign trade. They must have expertise in entry procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, duty rates and applicable taxes and fees for imported merchandise. According to the CBP, there are only 11,000 active licensed brokers in the United States.
